Hmm...that's a tough one to answer right off. I don't know what it literally means but I'll be happy to tell you how I perceive this saying. What I get from this saying is that the "fire" is your spirit, your soul, your inner self so to speak. And if you keep this "fire" in you burning bright, then no one can come along and burn you with their "fire". I hope that I'm making sense with my explanation of this saying. I can try to explain it a bit more if you would like.
